Full Moon in Leo
The Saturn/Pluto conjunction continues to blast its meaning into our lives, as recent world events are showing us. Britain’s final exit from the EU, Australia’s ongoing inferno, the locusts invading Africa, a new virulent virus strain spreading across the planet, and the Senate of the US abdicating its responsibility to hold a fair trial, all are symptoms of the Plutonian action (power and its ability to corrupt absolutely) coupled with Saturn’s law of karma (what goes around comes around, even if its coming around takes Time, another of Saturn’s purviews). Many of us are wondering, so when is that time happening that it “comes around” to we the people?
Well, of course, the answer is, the time is now. And will always be now. We must keep on with our lives, and use these events to strengthen our resolve to speak up at injustice when we see it, to continue to adjust our actions to make a difference, in whatever ways we see fit and are matched with our talents and skills. And to constantly think outside of the box and world view that the corporate media offers us. This is a time of changing paradigms, and as such, it’s never pretty when the old guard refuses to let go of the power it’s had for millennia. We need to keep reminding ourselves that we are emerging from the domination paradigm to a partnership paradigm, from control and power dynamics to the ways of exchange and mutual relationship.
It is fitting that in this chart Venus and Chiron (the wounded healer) are conjoined. Venus, symbolic of our feminine or receptive energy has entered the very active fire sign of Aries, (witness Nancy Pelosi tearing up Trump’s State of the Union speech) and yet Venus is paired with the planetary symbol of the wounds that we cannot heal, cannot change, must live with for the rest of our lives. Yet these wounds have the power, with applied consciousness, to inform us and propel us toward our deepest truths. At present, Chiron/Venus tells us that we are not yet through with having to witness the assault on Lady Liberty in the US. This will not be the first time she’s been gagged, and most likely it will not be the last. Pluto’s slow but steady approach toward the natal Pluto of the US (where it has not been for 245 years) will likely be the downfall of the US as we have known it, in one way or another.
The worst of it is, we are living in a world of information mirrors. Given that our media conglomerates are now entirely ruled by corporate money interests, we mistrust and suspect the integrity of everything we read and hear. It’s as if our reality has become Photoshopped and we don’t know what the real images are. And at the same time, we’re being warned that we have only a decade left before serious worldwide disasters begin to take human lives on a global scale. Never have we lived in such times, even during great times of world war. Each of us feels the wounding of the planet on some deep level. As astrologer Jessica Murray said, “We are in a time of ecological grief. Each of us feels the primal dread the child feels if its mother is in danger.”
This Full Moon in Leo asks us to demonstrate our Light according to the principles (Sun in Aquarius) of our highest good. Leo rules the heart, and if we use our hearts to connect to the larger picture, to Spirit, in whatever way we imagine it to be, through creatively imagining a future that follows from this present moment, we can help ourselves and others through this time. Mercury will be going retrograde on the 16th, and will be there until March 9th. This is a time for going within, for re-imagining ourselves, our future, and doing it in company, in community.
Anger, discontent and volatility are certainly in the mix right now, wherever we go. But also kindness has never before been more necessary to counteract not only our personal mood at the ongoing disenchantments, but to continue shine a Leo-light, to connect through the heart with as many as will join with us. The field of energy we walk around with affects everyone else, and everything else around us.
“We are all affecting the world every moment, whether we mean to or not.
Our actions and states of mind matter, because we are so deeply interconnected with one another.”
― Ram Dass
