Full Moon in Aquarius
This Full Moon in Aquarius shines a strong light into the very dark shadow of humanity, namely those principles that Aquarius represents: Universal brother/sisterhood, the “higher” truths of love, the deep connection to life that we all share, the synergy that happens when we all help each other through our difficulties. With the old paradigm of competition, scarcity, warring, battling with Nature, coming to a close, the ruling planet of Aquarius, Uranus, is making itself evident. Leo, its opposite sign, focuses on me, my creativity, whereas Aquarius represents the synergy of what can happen when we all combine our creativity to make a flourishing and vibrant community
Uranus’s influence is basically the unexpected, that which surfaces to our awareness by accident, surprise, and coincidence. When aligned with the Uranian energies, we find synchronicity is much more evident in our lives. An understanding of the deeper order of the Universe can show us the patterns of connection and relevance that our official societal world view does not. At this Full Moon, Uranus forms a challenging square to the Sun and Moon, and its presence in earth-bound Taurus challenges us to understand the deeper truths of life not from our philosophical thoughts, but from the deeper body-centered awareness. We need to feel our deepest connections to Life from our guts, our core, in order for us to make use of these truths.
Meanwhile, the War Machine of our global corporate culture continues to spread disinformation and propaganda in order to perpetuate the confusion which it so desperately needs to continue its existence. It thrives on hatred, on class and culture conflicts, on violence and fear. These are the emotions that translate into dollars, pounds, rubles, for profits to the giant war industry. This month, Mars in Aries will be forming challenging squares (90˚ angles) to the triple conjunction of Jupiter, Pluto and Saturn in Capricorn. These are the Big Three that conjoined in January of 2020 and activated the global awakening to the karma of centuries of domination, racism, and the slavery inherent in a profiteering economy. Mars in its less evolved expression rules these kinds of activities, so wasteful of life and destructive to the environment.
Mars, which usually transits through a zodiacal sign in two months, will be in Aries until January of 2021, due to a long retrograde period. The next six months will bring increased awareness of how our aggressive forces have been co-opted to the needs and ends of the War Machine. With this, as Uranus stations and goes retrograde on the 13th, protests and passions intensify, especially as Mars squares Jupiter (August 4th) and Pluto (August 13th). Watch out for impulsivity and reactivity throughout this month. To quote Carl Whittaker: “If we can abandon our missionary zeal we have less chance of being eaten by cannibals.” Mars rules overzealousness, which is fed by our thinking mind, rather than paying attention to our body’s signals for restraint and caution.
With Mercury in Cancer in close opposition to Saturn at this Full Moon, we need to examine our thinking processes, how they are wed to and influenced by our past experiences and thus may be colored in ways that need updating, revising so we can be more attuned to and informed by the present moment. Close by Mercury is Vesta, the asteroid that represents how we focus our intention, the beliefs that our needs for action are centered around. We need to keep in mind that while in the midst of a paradigm shift, both personal and global belief systems are in flux, opening here and closing there, creating uncertainty and doubt, but also opening to new ways that part with the past and make for possibilities of health and endurance through the changes that need to happen for our personal and global survival.
All charts here are using Natural House system: i.e. the Ascendant is always at 0˚ of Aries.
